It was a momentous night and the 2019 election has produced a decisive result.

Brexit with all its ramifications will proceed.

The next Queen’s speech will come in the next few days (Thursday) – watch out for the Environment Bill & Fisheries Bill in particular.

Pity to lose two strong environmentalists in Mary Creagh who was a good chair of the Environment Audit Committee. Defra Minister Zac Goldsmith lost his seat but there are rumours that he will get a seat in the House of Lords. In any event there will need to one change in Defra Ministers to replace him.

There are indications that the Department for Climate Change – DECC – will emerge from BEIS.

Business Green ‘Prime ‘Minister Boris Johnson is planning sweeping Whitehall reforms, including the reinstatement of a Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), as he seeks to position the government to deliver on his campaign priorities.’

Major changes once the Withdrawal agreement is passed:   According to multiple media reports, Number 10 is planning to undertake a major re-organisation across the machinery of government once it has passed the controversial Withdrawal Agreement that should ensure the UK leaves the EU ahead of the current January 31st deadline.’

With the end of purdah various projects that were in the pipeline will start to emerge – the review of National Parks & AONBs & The Coastal Concordat –  are good example.
