Somerset Levels flooding: ‘Trigger points’ – Using video to communicate

    News

The Environment Agency are using a range of videos posted on YouTube to get across their new Trigger Point approach to flooding on the levels to see more go to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vFc-vR9Wmg

BBC ‘A three-point flood trigger plan has been introduced on the Somerset Levels in an attempt to make it clear when action will be taken. The Environment Agency said more pumps will be brought in when certain geographic, meteorological and hydrological criteria are met. Farmer James Winslade said pumping is needed before it gets to that stage. The three criteria are being monitored at 21 of the Environment Agency pumping stations across the county. Once they have been met additional pumps will be brought in to try to cut rising water levels.’
