Water Saving in the heatwave: From Scotland to Thames, water companies alert public on wise water use

    News

As the great summer weather continues last week saw the first burst of alerts to the public to use less water from Scotland to Thames. This is in measure to try and curb the increased demand such weather provokes. ‘Droughts’ are notoriously slow to develop, and at the point when the seriousness is realised it is almost too late, but given the awful and wet winter and spring months it will be odd if this catches us out this year.

    • Scotland Consumers asked to use water wisely
    • United Utilities asks people to save water
    • Thames Water ramps up water supply to meet demand

The major moorland fires are one of the consequences of the weather.

With brilliant timing The Environmental Audit Committee have recently been working on the effects of heatwaves and there will no doubt, given the current issues, be input from the Water Companies.
