Sweden announces plan to eliminate carbon emissions by 2045
BusinessGreen ‘Swedish Climate Minister Isabella Lovin announced that the country aims to eliminate all greenhouse gas emissions by the year 2045. Legislators signed a law that will require transportation companies to cut carbon emissions by 70% over 12 years.’
Solar power to breaks a new UK record Guardian ‘Last weekend’s sunny weather was not only good for beers, barbecues and bees, but also drove solar power to break a new UK record. For the first time ever, the amount of electricity demanded by homes and businesses in the afternoon on Saturday was lower than it was in the night, because solar panels on rooftops and in fields cut demand so much. National Grid, which runs the transmission network, described the moment as a “huge milestone”. The company sees the solar power generated on the distribution networks – or local roads of the system – as reduced electricity demand. To read more click here

Even Exxon get’s climate change – Letter to Trump Independent ‘Oil giant Exxon Mobil is urging Donald Trump to keep the United States signed up to the Paris Agreement on climate change. In a letter to the President’s special assistant for international energy and the environment, a senior Exxon official described the historic international deal as an “effective framework for addressing the risks of climate change”. But the letter also suggested it was worthwhile staying at the negotiating table to ensure energy markets “remain as free and competitive as possible”.’ Click here to read more
