Future Water Association Votes on its ‘Future’

In a recent member vote to support a change in the Future Water Association’s Articles of Association, the voting support greatly exceeded 80% of the membership with unanimous agreement for the proposed changes.

Amendments to Articles of Association are usually made as part of a legal requirement; however for us at Future Water Association, the changes have a much more significant impact.

The changes give autonomy to the Organisation’s Management Board, enabling it to make positive decisions which support the vision and mission. Paul Horton, CEO of Future Water Association explains, “Our vision is to lead the way in transforming how the water sector grows and develops both in the UK and across the world. The changes to our Articles of Association allow us to run as an effective business service organisation providing vital support to our members and the water sector as a whole. We also have a new management structure, making us an organisation that is fit for purpose for the future, allowing us to follow our core values; informing, innovating and influencing”

As an organisation we have set out 8 key objects as a focus for our operations:

1.   Shape the future of the water sector

2.   Provide a clear voice for business

3.   Create a dynamic, informed and fully integrated sector

4.   Enable innovation and thought leadership through collaboration

5.   Promote societal benefit, meeting customer expectations

6.   Promote sustainability through technical and environmental excellence

7.   Inspire the next generation to be future custodians of the sector

8.   Influence Governments’ thinking and policy

Mark Smith, CEO of WRC and a long-standing member of the Future Water Association outlines why he supported the changes, “It is so refreshing to be a part of an organisation which takes such a proactive approach to growing, developing and protecting the interest of its members. Our membership of Future Water Association adds real value to our business and it is reassuring to see how much time and effort is being invested into taking the organisation into the future.”

Paul Wozencroft Managing Director of CET Property Assurance and the Chairman of Future Water Association said “The speed with which the changes to the Articles of Association was executed is testimony to how our members are aligned with the vision of the Future Water Association.  I am delighted with our members’ input and support, along with the drive of our management team”.
