UKSSD: ‘On 25 September 2015 the largest gathering of Heads of Government in history met at the UN General Assembly to ratify the Sustainable Development Goals, a 15 year global framework for sustainable development of unprecedented scope and ambition. The Sustainable Development Goals resolve to end poverty and hunger everywhere, drive inclusive economic growth, advance human rights and gender equality, and protect the planet and its natural resources.

UK Stakeholders for Sustainable Development (UKSSD) is a multi-stakeholder ‘network of networks’, bringing together UK-based organisations working towards effective and comprehensive domestic implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, within which sit the Sustainable Development Goals.

Effective implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals will require a new and collaborative way of working, from Government and from Civil Society, but also from the private sector, academia, special interest groups and the public. UKSSD will act as a forum for this new set of actors in the post-2015 development agenda, creating a space to share ideas, launch initiatives and drive collective action.

UKSSD membership is open to any organisation, operating in any sector, with a stake in the domestic implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. UKSSD are keen to have representation across all sectors concerned with sustainable development to shape an inclusive, effective and representative implementation strategy.’  For further information click here.

Sir David King: UK should shift renewable energy subsidy focus to offshore wind

26/04/2016: The Department of Energy and Climate Change (Decc) should concentrate its limited renewable energy subsidy budget on offshore wind, in an effort to drive down costs and increase investor demand, according to the UK’s chief climate envoy Sir David King.
