Mersey and Medway Maintenance Dredge Protocol Updates: Call for Expressions of Interest
Peel Ports Group operates and is the statutory harbour authority for, amongst others, the ports of Liverpool and Sheerness. The maintenance dredge protocol baseline documents covering these harbour authority areas (i.e. Mersey and Medway-Swale respectively) now need to be updated. So, too, do the associated reports setting out the information needed to inform an appropriate assessment.
In addition to carrying out its own dredging and disposal activities under the MCAA marine licensing regime, Port of Sheerness Ltd. is a licensing authority for third party dredging activities and works within its harbour area. ABP’s Port of Garston operates within the area covered by the Mersey MDP. The updates will therefore need to cover such activities.
Peel Ports Group invites companies interested in undertaking the update of these maintenance dredge protocol baseline documents and associated reports to submit an Expression of Interest for this work. The Expression of Interest document, which should be no more than 10 pages plus up to five two-page CVs, needs to include:
- a list of the main tasks you feel will be required in preparing these updates
- an indication of any changes that have taken place in the last five years that could influence the content of, and hence the work involved in updating the MDP documents
- an overview of the company’s relevant experience, including but not limited to the following topics:
- assessing strategic as well as local level effects on European sites and species
- demonstrating compliance in comparable situations with the CRoW Act and the NERC Act
- assessing the implications of maintenance dredging and disposal (or comparable activities) on Marine Conservation Zones
- confirmation that the company would be in a position to undertake this work between 1st May and 30th November 2016
Expression of Interest documents, in pdf format, should be attached to an e-mail sent to Jan.Brooke@peelports.com to arrive by 1700 hours on 10th February 2016. Three or four of the companies who express an interest will be invited to tender, likely at the beginning of March.
