Bluepint for Water, a broad coalition of environmental, water efficiency and fisheries organisations, launched its vision for a healthy water environment that people and nature can enjoy at the Houses of Parliament. There seemed to be real appetite for the vision as representatives from government, industry and NGOs – including the Secretary of State for the Environment, Liz Truss, and Tim Farr, a farmer with huge experience of water and flood management – packed the room. The vision, Water Matters, has 5 clear, simple goals:

  • Use water wisely
  • Stop pollution in our waters
  • Manage floods for people and wildlife
  • Create, protect and restore places for wildlife
  • Join up water management
