    Job Reference: 2025-12FPL

    About us

We are a leading UK environmental charity dedicated to protecting our ocean – defending crucial habitats, regenerating vital ecosystems and inspiring volunteers. We unite communities, governments, and industry, and champion science-based solutions for cleaner, healthier seas to tackle the climate and nature emergency.

Help shape the future of sustainable seafood

Our oceans are under pressure, and the way we fish today will decide the health of marine ecosystems tomorrow. This role is your chance to lead the charge for transparency and traceability in seafood supply chains—helping industry prove the provenance of its products and driving demand for low-impact, locally caught or farmed seafood. You’ll influence policy, collaborate with stakeholders, and champion solutions that protect marine life while supporting responsible livelihoods.

If you’re ready to make waves for a better ocean future, we’d love to hear from you!

    What you’ll be doing

    • Craft and champion policy that supports sustainable fisheries and marine conservation.
    • Influence UK governments to adopt low-impact, traceable fishing practices.
    • Build strong, constructive relationships with government, industry, NGOs, and other key players.
    • Be the voice of sustainable fisheries—speaking at events, engaging with media, and representing us in forums.
    • Respond to consultations and create clear, evidence-based positions on fisheries issues.
    • Lead research projects and pilot initiatives that drive real-world change.
    • Collaborate across teams to share expertise and shape organisational strategy.
    • Monitor, evaluate, and report on projects to ensure impact and accountability.

    What you’ll bring

    • A deep understanding of fisheries management and/or policy in the UK (and ideally beyond).
    • Proven experience influencing policy and delivering change in marine conservation.
    • A natural collaborator who thrives on building partnerships and finding solutions.
    • Excellent project management skills—strategic, organised, and results-focused.
    • A skilled communicator who can make complex issues clear and compelling.
    • A critical thinker with the ability to research and distil technical information.
    • Passion for ocean conservation and alignment with our values of integrity, collaboration, and positivity.
    • Resilient, adaptable, and comfortable working independently as well as in a team.

    Why join us?

    • Be part of a mission-driven team making a tangible difference for our oceans.
    • Work on high-impact projects that influence policy and industry practices.
    • Collaborate with leading experts and organisations in marine conservation.
    • Enjoy a flexible, supportive working environment that values creativity and solutions.
    • Help shape a future where sustainable seafood is the norm, not the exception.

    Benefits

    • 25 days’ annual leave plus Bank Holidays (increasing with service)
    • Extra time off at Christmas
    • 8% employer pension contributions (no match required)
    • Sick pay at full pay for 8 weeks, then 8 weeks at half pay (after probation)
    • Flexible working and remote-first approach
    • Health and wellbeing support, plus an employee assistance programme
    • A paid volunteering day to support a charity of your choice
    • Cycle-to-work scheme
