DECC confirms it will publish onshore wind impact assessment – EA Committee press Government

    News

EAC ‘The Government has confirmed in a written response to the Environmental Audit Committee (EAC) that it will publish an impact assessment ‘later this summer’ concerning its decision on 18 June 2015 to close the Renewables Obligation for onshore wind projects a year earlier than planned.

The confirmation from Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) Secretary of State, Amber Rudd MP, comes in response to a letter from the Chair of the EAC, Huw Irranca Davies requesting clarification about when the decision’s impact would be assessed given concerns about its effect on the UK’s renewables industry.

The Secretary of State says that the Department is engaging with industry on ‘the proposed grace periods and will be considering impacts on investment and deployment in light of the information’ it receives.

The full text of the letter will be published after the Committee has met in September.
