The Marine Management Organisation (MMO) is implementing a comprehensive upgrade to its marine licensing service, moving away from the current marine case management system (MCMS) to a new modern platform offering long-term stability, enhanced security and improved user experience.
The new service will be accompanied by end-to-end service improvements aimed at enhancing the user journey and creating a more efficient licensing process. The transfer will take place in stages over the coming months, with each type of licensing application tackled in turn to allow learning and improvement at each stage.
Trudi Wakelin, Director of Marine Development, said: “These improvements are more than a system upgrade. It is a significant strategic shift in how we manage marine licensing for the benefit of our customers and stakeholders. Providing an improved and more streamlined marine plan led licensing service aligns with our ambitions as a customer focused world-leading marine regulator and enables more sustainable marine development.”
Users will benefit from new digital tools, improved processes and enhanced guidance, enabling MMO to provide timely, expert and enforceable decisions supporting sustainable commercial growth whilst protecting the marine environment.
