    East Marine Plan development events

The Marine Planning Team at the Marine Management Organisation (MMO) are hosting three in-person East Marine Plan development events.  These events will provide an update on Issues with Supporting Evidence, plan objectives and plan options. This is also an opportunity for stakeholders to help shape the development of the East Marine Plan by providing valuable input on draft plan policies ahead of the statutory consultation on the draft plan in 2026.

England’s East Marine  Plans are being replaced because after the Plans’ second three-year report (2020) it was decided that the policies are no longer fit for purpose due to wider legislative and policy changes since the adoption of the plans in 2014.

The first stage of plan development was the East Marine Plan Statement of Public Participation, which was published in April 2024, and updated in April 2025 due to timeline changes.

The east marine plan area consists of the east inshore and the east offshore marine plan areas. The east inshore marine plan area stretches from mean high water springs to 12 nautical miles offshore along the coastline between Flamborough Head and Felixstowe. The east offshore marine plan area extends from the outer boundary of the east inshore area to England’s borders with the Netherlands, Belgium and France.
