Abstract submissions are now open for oral and poster presentation sessions and will close on Friday 29th August 2025.

Building on the inaugural UK Seagrass Symposium in 2023, this edition aims to strengthen the UK seagrass network and inspire positive action. The symposium will highlight best practice, signpost support and foster opportunities for you to more deeply connect with the individuals and institutions working in this space. By balancing science, policy, and action the symposium will create a platform to support your ongoing work.

Hosted by Project Seagrass and sponsored by The Crown Estate, National Grid UK, Welsh Government and ACT Sustainability, the symposium will drive forward discussions and actions for UK seagrass recovery, alongside providing an invaluable networking opportunity for attendees to share knowledge on seagrass science, policy, and management.

    Session Themes:

    1. Biodiversity, Functional Ecology, and Species Interactions in UK Seagrass Ecosystems
    2. Population Genetics, Genomic Connectivity, and Spatial Dynamics
    3. Anthropogenic Pressures and Environmental Drivers of Seagrass Decline
    4. Mapping, Monitoring, and Indicators for Seagrass Ecosystem Assessments
    5. Blue Carbon and Ecosystem Services of Seagrass Meadows
    6. Restoration Science, Practice, and Predictive Modelling
    7. Social-Ecological Systems: Community Engagement, Knowledge Integration, and Cultural Values
    8. Future Frontiers: Climate Resilience, Technological Innovation, and AI Applications
