Environment and water groups join forces

    NewsWater

The Worshipful Company of Water Conservators and the Society for the Environment  have signed a concordat to work together.

Both organisations are proud to have members with a passion for the environment. Plus, both recognise the need for competent, level headed, ethical, science-based contributions to environmental conservation. To build on these shared positions, collaboration will amplify efforts to champion environmental professionalism.

So living the values they signed a concordat.

    Shared objectives in working together

    • To establish formal points of contact between the two organisations
    • To establish ways of working together, which may evolve as time and circumstances progress

    Examples of working together

    1. Promoting cross memberships/registrations, whilst recognising that individual registrants of The Society may choose to join other Livery Companies and vice versa with other professional bodies.
    2. Sharing initiatives in the development of new entrants to the professions
    3. Cross recognition of stakeholder status in organising relevant events, such as the Water Conservators City Debates, and cross advertising of such events
    4. By establishing an axis between the Environmental Policy Forum (The Society as secretariat) and the Water Conservators’ Consultation Group
    5. Extending the opportunities for charitable work, for example through the Water Conservation Trust.

In a demonstration of the spirit of the concordat, Society for the Environment Chair, Dougal Driver CEnv, and the Master of the Water Conservators, Dylan Barker, issued a joint statement:

“We are very pleased that this provides a clear signal of how important teamwork is in making contributions to the development of national environmental policies and practices. This year the Society celebrates 20 years since obtaining its Royal Charter and the Water Conservators is celebrating 25 years since it obtained Livery status, and the formalising of this partnership is a fitting way to mark such as significant year.”
