As part of making plans for the future, we’ve been working to define what OCF stands for – who we are, what we do, and what we believe in. We think deciding on these will help keep us on track as we expand the range of activities we are involved in.
So, beginning with who we are: we’re OCF, and we’re a trusted voice in the sector – sharing news, spreading knowledge, and speaking out about issues affecting the water, coastal and marine environment.
What do we do, on a day-to-day basis? We welcome people into the water, marine and coastal community, in a variety of different ways. We connect businesses with exciting new opportunities. We help people find jobs in the sector. And we facilitate conversations, partnerships and collaboration.
Finally but importantly: what do we believe in? We’re committed to bringing practitioners together from different sectors. Our decision-making always puts sustainability and equity first. We always act with integrity, and value these commitments over any profit motive.
These statements reflect where we are now and where we’re going. They have also helped lay the ground for us to define our vision, mission and values. We’ll talk more about these in a future newsletter.
