The Climate Change Committee (CCC) has published its proposed methodology for the Fourth Climate Change Risk Assessment – Independent Assessment (CCRA4-IA).

This independent assessment will be delivered in 2026 and will provide an updated assessment of the risks and opportunities from climate change and the potential for adaptation to address them. This will be published alongside advice from the CCC to governments around the UK on improving climate resilience in the next round of national adaptation programmes.

The CCC has also published its proposed methodology for the Seventh Carbon Budget. This will underpin the advice that the Committee gives in 2025 to the UK on the level of its Seventh Carbon Budget. It includes plans to assess the impact on the UK economy and costs and benefits of the transition to Net Zero. It also sets out how the CCC intends to build the evidence base through communication and engagement.
