    Minister Rebecca Pow’s speech at the Coastal Futures-REACH Conference

    Defra  ‘On 18 January, Defra’s Environment Minister Rebecca Pow MP gave the keynote speech to the Coastal Futures 2022 conference. This series of conferences on coastal and marine environment issues has been running since 1994. In her speech Minister Pow gave an outline of the various pieces of work which Defra Group is delivering to continue working towards the Government’s vision of clean, healthy, safe, productive and biologically diverse seas, which are used sustainably. Among the range of initiatives she outlined, Minister Pow highlighted the 18 January publication by Defra and the Devolved Administrations of the public consultation on the Joint Fisheries Statement, as well as continued progress towards Good Environmental Status under the UK Marine Strategy, £140 million flagship science innovation programme, the Natural Capital and Ecosystem Assessment Programme, and continued government investment in fishing communities.’
