Sad News – Jane Taussik

To those who knew Jane, it is with sad hearts we tell you that she passed away earlier this month.  She had been living with lung cancer for a few years, quite well until recently when she died peacefully at home.

Jane was a leading figure and strong advocate for ICZM. She was very involved with the first coastal partnership in the UK, the Solent Forum, set up by the late Alan Inder and shared ICZM best practice through many European projects and hosting Littoral conferences. Her reach extended to the Black Sea and sharing best practice from the Chichester area by hosting and entertaining Ukrainians. She established the Masters Course at University of Portsmouth on Coastal and Marine Resource Management.

She will likely be remembered for her sometimes challenging thoughts, recognition that people do not always represent their organisation’s views but their own, that to be of value to a forum or working group you need to be a linking person and have a network within your organisation to share intel/knowledge and upright shirt collars. She always provided a touch of wisdom alongside a sense of humour.

Jane was a great friend, inspirational colleague and role model to many of us in the coastal community and will be sadly missed.

We will raise a glass to her memory in a few weeks’ time – please get in touch if you’d like to join us.
