Billed as a discussion with Dr. Sylvia Earle and the co-directors of Seaspiracy, “Going Deep with Seaspiracy” was hosted as part of Earle’s Mission Blue’s Blue Hope series; the recording is available here.

Perhaps a mild health warning is needed before viewing.  Whilst many valid issues are raised and strong points made, overall it is a disappointingly disjointed discussion in which the participants sometimes seem to be making prepared statements rather than engaging in a conversation.

It does the absolute minimum to address the criticisms of the film.  The film-makers are given an easy ride, with Sylvia Earl heaping praise on their efforts, though they mount a clear and robust defence, dismissing some criticisms as unwarranted or wrongly targeted.  It might however have been more illuminating had an informed fisheries scientist been invited to participate and present their concerns.
