Defra, the Northern Ireland Executive, the Scottish Government and the Welsh Government have now published updates to the marine monitoring programmes for the state of the UK seas.

The document sets out the monitoring programmes we use to measure progress towards Good Environmental Status in the UK seas. It notes the improvements we have made to our monitoring programme since Part Two was originally published in 2014 and identifies the gaps and opportunities we aim to address over the next 6 year cycle.

We have also published the government response to the stakeholder feedback received through the consultation held on the proposed monitoring programmes in August-November 2020.
