    Minister Rebecca Pow outlines Government thinking on the coastal, climate change and resilient places

    At the ‘Flood and Coast– Creating climate resilient places’  online conference recently hosted by CIWEM, Minister Pow made references to the:

    • Need for a more integrated and adaptive, place based approach to deliver multiple benefits
    • Government’s £200m fund to drive innovation at a local level
    • Environment Agency’s Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Strategy as the framework for a clear line of sight to enable local action

    Strong references were also made by other speakers about the:

    • Coast as an asset
    • Fact that our coastal communities are most at risk from climate change and often the least able to adapt
    • Need for investments in place making through a green recovery
    • Environment Agency’s Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Strategy emphasis on nature based solutions
