Water efficiency policy options: Heads Up on new Defra consultation likely to be in April

    News

    From Nathan Richardson, Waterwise:

Hot on the heels of the current Defra consultation on Improving Management of Water in the Environment  Defra are preparing to consult and seek evidence on a range of water efficiency policy options including:

    • potentially setting a target for personal water consumption
    • introducing a water labelling scheme
    • tightening water efficiency standards in building regulations and
    • supporting behavioural changes to encourage careful water use.

The consultation is likely to start in April and is a follow up to Defra’s Water Conservation Report 2018.

It is very timely therefore that Waterwise will be holding their annual water efficiency conference on 19th March; there are still places available It will provide a great opportunity to hear more on these issues, including from Sir James Bevan (Chief Executive of the Environment Agency) and Sally Randall (Defra’s new Director of Floods and Water).’
