    IFCAs – a ‘Call for Evidence’ – Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authorities

    The Defra Secretary of State must prepare a report about the conduct and operation of IFCAs every four years, starting from the date when IFCAs were first established in 2010.  The report must be laid before Parliament.  Defra has, today, started a process to collect evidence that will help us write the first report. We invite you to respond to our ‘Call for Evidence’ and help us understand how individual IFCAs have worked to meet their duties and demonstrated the local leadership that might be expected of a statutory regulator.  We have published an introductory letter and a background information pack about the IFCAs, alongside a questionnaire, on Defra’s Citizen Space website. Please let us have your comments by Friday 1 August 2014. You can read the letter, the information pack and the questionnaire and send comments to us, through the website at
