National policy statement for water resources

    News

The government is seeking views on the development of a national policy statement for water resources and the types of infrastructure that it will apply to.

The government wants to know what you think about its approach to developing a national policy statement for water resources. The statement will simplify the process of gaining planning consents for large water infrastructure projects.

Defra is also presenting options on the sizes and types of infrastructure which could lead to changes in the Planning Act 2008 thresholds. It are calling for relevant evidence to support options.

The consultation documents can be found here and responses are invited by 22 December.
