    Plymouth City MP puts forward the case for the UK’s First National Marine Park

    It is not clear where this idea has come from. A way of putting existing designations in a wider local context. A mini-MSP?

    A city MP has launched a campaign to turn Plymouth Sound into the UK’s first National Marine park.

    Labour’s Luke Pollard has outlined his intention to turn the city’s famous bay into an environmentally protected and sustainably managed area. Plymouth Sound already has designations of Special Areas of Conservation (SAC), Marine Conservation Zones (MCZ) and Sites of Community Interests (SCI). Mr Pollard believes creating a National Marine Park in the bay would help put Plymouth on the map for its coastal waters. To read more click here.
