The Marine Management Organisation (MMO), the UK Government’s marine regulator for England, have now published their Studland Bay Voluntary No Anchor Zone: 2022 Review of the effectiveness of the voluntary no anchor zone (VNAZ)  after the first year of it being in place. A Summary of the 2022 review is also available.

The MMO has concluded that the voluntary measure will remain in place due to the positive progress that has been made. This followed a public survey to help understand awareness of the approach and gather feedback. It also took into consideration factors such as the number of advanced mooring systems that are in place.

The MMO is to continue to focus on raising awareness of the voluntary no anchor zone throughout the 2023 boating season through site presence and engagement materials. MMO understand that it will take time for a voluntary approach to be adopted and therefore will work with users of the bay to increase awareness.

The full review can be read here and the summary is here.
