Sea-Changers 2026 Innovation Fund is open – apply now
We are thrilled to announce that the 2026 Innovation Fund is now accepting applications. This is your chance to secure a grant for an innovative marine conservation project that pushes the boundaries of how we protect our oceans.
The application deadline is 30 April 2026.
The fund is specifically designed to support fresh ideas and creative solutions that address the most pressing challenges facing marine environments today. Whether it is new technology, community-led initiatives, or experimental restoration techniques, we want to hear from you. The 2026 Innovation Fund is supported by the William Grant Foundation (for projects in Scotland) and the FatFace Foundation.
Grants of up to £10,000 are available for exceptional projects. Most of our previous innovation grants have been in the region of £5,000 to £6,000. Want an idea of the kinds of projects we’ve already funded? You can read about 8 of the projects we funded in 2025 here.
What are we looking for?
We welcome applications from not-for-profit organisations, companies, and education institutions. What matters most is not the size of your organisation, but the originality of your idea and its potential to make a meaningful impact for our seas.
If you’ve been waiting for the right opportunity to research, develop or test a new idea, this is it.
Applications will be judged against the following criteria:
- Degree of innovation and creativity
- Potential for impact on coastal and marine environments and / or species
- Value for money
- Deliverability and scalability
