The UK Focus meetings of the Estuarine & Coastal Sciences Association (ECSA) cover a wide range of topics ranging from novel science to nature conservation, recreation and the activities of local special interest groups bringing together scientists, planners and managers. They are a very friendly environment for young workers and students to present their work in a multi-disciplinary meeting with participants from various disciplines.

The 2024 ECSA Focus meeting will look at the Estuaries and Coasts of North-West England and South-West Scotland including both sides of the Solway Firth. The area covered will be northwards from the Ribble estuary to Morecambe Bay, the West Cumbria Coast and its Rivers, and the Solway Firth including South-West Scotland.

The paper and poster sessions will be held on 21st and 22nd May 2024 at the University of Cumbria’s Fusehill Campus in Carlisle and we also hope to run an (optional) field trip on the afternoon of May 20th for those who wish to come earlier. The Fusehill site is close to the city centre and within walking distance of Carlisle Railway Station.

Offers of presentations and posters are very welcome including from students. If you are interested, please send brief details to Andrew Wither who will also be pleased to answer any other queries in connection with the event.
