Gardline is a leading provider of marine surveys, with a vibrant Environmental Division that has evolved over 30 years, providing the highest quality scientific services to the international marine industry.


As a Reporting Scientist you will be responsible for the analysis, interpretation and presentation of marine environmental data in reports to our clients. You will be part of the team responsible for producing our environmental habitat assessments, baselines/monitoring reports and mitigation compliance reports.

You will work closely with the Client Report Managers, Project Managers and Field Scientists. As a team you will ensure the production and delivery of high-quality accurate reports to client agreed specifications within tight time frames. You will need to communicate and collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders across the Gardline group of companies.

The successful candidate should be of degree calibre and demonstrate a sound knowledge of the marine environment with both a scientific and commercial awareness. Candidates will also possess excellent organisational, presentation, communication and interpersonal skills. It is essential that they have good problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex science at public and technical levels.

An understanding of marine ecology, habitat classification, marine wildlife, mitigation and chemical processes along with associated legislation covering habitat and species protection are essential to the role. Previous experience of conducting marine environmental surveys, marine acoustic surveys, environmental impact assessment, taxonomy, environmental research or marine mammal mitigation would be desirable.

The ideal candidate must be confident using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word. It would be beneficial if you have experience of using and understanding Adobe Acrobat, ArcGIS and statistical software packages. Experience in programming for automating data analyse would be advantageous.

We are offering this opportunity as a permanent position.  We offer flexible, hybrid working but you will need to be based at our offices in Great Yarmouth. This full time 37.5 hours a week position will also involve some weekend working and opportunities for hybrid working.
