Often, important learning from the challenges and successes in public engagement is not recorded. To gather evidence from this area of work, please could you spare 15~20 minutes to note down your thoughts in this survey? However small, whatever you share with us will become part of the important stories forming the core of the research project on public engagement on coastal wetland restoration projects in the UK.

We are independent researchers conducting a project entitled “Communicating with the Public about Coastal Restoration and Flood Risk Management” in the UK, funded by Japanese Society of Promotion of Science. The first phase of the research was shared in the recently published “Saltmarsh Restoration Handbook” (Environment Agency, 2021).

As a second phase of the research, we would like to hear from more people who has experience of engaging with community members about coastal changes in the UK, and whose job description requires them to communicate with the public in the future. You might be a communication officer, technical or engineering officer, coastal habitat creation officer or flood risk management officer for the government or in the NGO or business or research sectors (including Shoreline Management Plans, and managed realignment schemes).

If you are interested, you can also enter the prize draw at the end of the survey with a chance to win one of three £50 Amazon vouchers. The information you give us will remain anonymous.

Thank you for your help.
