GIS Specialist, Liphook (Hants) / Hybrid

  • Responsible for the production and analysis of data and maps to deliver products, services and web applications.
  • Collecting, managing and analysing geographical data.
  • Spatial and 3D analysis.
  • Developing and maintaining mapping applications and tools.
  • Using coding and automation to deliver efficient workflows.
  • Updating and maintaining in-house data library.
  • Responsible for updating any GIS related software and/or hardware, liaising with Intertek IT team as required.

Essential Skills:

  • BSc or MSc in GIS, Geography, Environmental, Data Science or a related discipline
  • Experience using ArcGIS 10.7 or above and QGIS (minimum 1 – 2 years’ experience)
  • Confident working with data in a variety of different coordinate systems, and knowledge of data transformations and coordinate formats
  • Ability to resolve complex spatial queries using GIS methodologies and tools and present results effectively to end users
  • Ability to design visually impressive materials
  • Able to operate to high quality standards
  • Flexible and able to multi-task with a variety of projects and people

Additional Desirable Skills:

  • Exposure to ArcGIS extensions (e.g. Spatial Analyst, 3D Analyst) and ArcPro
  • Knowledge of ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS StoryMaps and Model Builder
  • A keen interest in programming (e.g. Python, VB.NET, VBA)
  • Web GIS/database development
  • Competence with Excel formulae and macros
  • Willingness /ability to support on other IT/technical projects if required
