SEA-CHANGERS LAUNCHES COASTAL FOUNTAIN FUND 2022

The Sea-Changers Coastal Fountain Fund supports groups and organisations around the UK who wish to install water bottle refill stations on beaches or other coastal locations. The programme aims to tackle the increasing problem of plastic bottles left behind along the coasts as marine litter, damaging the marine environment and the species that call it home.  The fund is being sponsored by Bunzl plc. who are supporting this work as part of their response to the plastic challenge.

The aim of the fund is simple:

  • To prevent or reduce negative impacts on UK coastal and marine environments and species by reducing marine litter, through the provision of well-located coastal water fountains that will significantly reduce the use of non-reusable plastic drinks bottles.

A maximum sum of £2,000 per fountain is available; organisations can apply for funding for one fountain.

If you know an organisation that is keen to purchase and enable the installation of a water bottle refill station in their local coastal community, please do let them know about the existence of the fund. It is likely they will already have plans in place and be seeking that final bit of funding to make things happen.

The deadline for applications is 13th February 2022. You can find out more here www.sea-changers.org.uk/coastal-fountain-fund including who is eligible, how we evaluate the applications, fund FAQs and the application form.

Best wishes

The Sea-Changers Team
