Seabird Resilience Fund: Taking Flight – now open for applications
SMEEF is delighted to announce the launch of the first open grants round of the Seabirds Resilience Fund. ‘Taking Flight’ is designed to accelerate progress against the Scottish Seabird Conservation Action Plan and its aim of maximising seabird prospects and building resilience in seabird populations.
The first round of Taking Flight is open for applications until the midday on Friday 7th November. SMEEF are seeking applications to support a broad range of seabird conservation projects, for example, piloting novel technologies to support monitoring, conducting survey and scoping activities, and fostering collaboration and engagement that enhances seabird conservation.
A free webinar will be held on Wednesday 8th October 2025, 2 – 3pm for prospective applicants to speak directly with the grants team and ask questions about their project and the application process. A recording of the webinar will be made available on our website following the event.
You can find more information about Taking Flight, including the Application Form and Grant Criteria here. Alternatively contact the SMEEF Seabirds Officer, Hettie Pike, through grants@smeef.scot.
Taking Flight is supported by the Seabird Resilience Fund, which was set up within SMEEF following voluntary contributors from offshore renewable energy developers in the Northeast and East Ornithology Group (NEEOG). This initiative would not be possible without developers within NEEOG and we thank them for their generous donations.
