On behalf of the CaBA Water Resources Working Group, The Environment Agency and The Rivers Trust (with support from the EU Interreg project ‘Water for Tomorrow’) have established a fund for communication and engagement projects that facilitate a greater understanding of surface and/or groundwater water resource challenges and support the development and implementation of sustainable management solutions.

Under the fund, CaBA catchment partnerships are invited to apply. Applications are invited to both continue successful projects established under the fund in previous years and/or for new projects. It is anticipated that approximately 10 – 12 projects will be funded.

Applications should be of approximately £10,000 in value. Project proposals need to demonstrate how they meet the following objectives:

  • Achieve collaboration between CaBA catchment partners
  • To effectively engage and inform citizens and stakeholders on the current and future water resource challenges within catchments and the appropriate actions that can be taken.
  • To accelerate the uptake of sustainable management practices within catchments.
  • Align and contribute to the delivery of water resources objectives set out in catchment plans and WFD.
  • Convene and facilitate local multi sector stakeholder engagement to build a shared understanding of water resources challenges, and any strategies to improve water resources management and stakeholder participation.

Applications should not exceed 4 sides of A4 and should be completed using the application form provided. Projects should not exceed 1 year in duration. Projects will be assessed against the following criteria:

  • Alignment to existing water resource outcomes identified in catchment plans and for achieving WFD objectives
  • Impact
  • Value for money

The deadline for applications is Friday 3rd June 2022. Applications should be submitted to ruth.stone@theriverstrust.org
