Section 61 of the Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009 (MCAA) sets a legal requirement on the Marine Management Organisation to monitor and report on the marine plans and the progress towards the effects of policies and the effectiveness of policies in securing objectives set out in the marine plan every three-years.

Monitoring surveys are one method used to provide data on the use of the marine plans in the decision-making process and support their understanding of the influence marine plan policies have in those decisions. The Marine Planning team would like your support in collecting data to strengthen the monitoring and reporting of England’s marine plans.

They would welcome your experience of using marine plans in your work by completing one of the monitoring surveys listed here.

Do you have questions?

Marine Planning Officers are based around England’s coast and are here to support you and answer your questions on the monitoring survey or any other issue.
