I’m delighted to announce that today the water sector innovation centre of excellence – Spring – has launched.

This is a soft launch of the name, branding and the four main functions that will go live in December. We’re immensely grateful for the support we’ve received from water company colleagues as Spring has been developed. It would not have been possible without their insight, contribution, and constructive challenge.

Between now and December, we’ll be calling on industry colleagues more to help ensure the initial version (what we’re calling our Minimum Viable Product or MVP) we launch in December meets users’ needs – so we’re also grateful for your continued support.

As outlined in our initial bid for funding from Ofwat’s Innovation in Water Competition, Spring will be submitting a bid for further funding in a future funding round. We are engaging with Ofwat on the best approach to take and will work with UKWIR’s board and companies’ R&D leads to ensure our bid has the highest chance of success.

We’re incredibly grateful for the support we’ve had so far and I hope this will continue as Spring evolves from idea, to concept, to MVP and beyond.
