In her hard-hitting speeches to the UN Climate Change summit and the US Congress, climate activist Greta Thunberg criticises “feel-good” stories about how we are going to fix everything and to “face the reality, the facts, the science”.  Quoting from last years IPCC report she gave some stark warnings about the today’s emissions levels and the chances of staying below a 1.5 degree Celsius of global temperature rise above pre-industrial levels.  A 50% chance. “Would anyone of you step onto a plane if you knew it had more than a 50% chance of crashing? More to the point: would you put your children on that flight?”. Her message was to unite behind the science and take action. “We cannot solve a crisis without treating it as a crisis”.
