Masters in Flood Risk Assessment,
Modelling & Engineering

CIWEM Accredited Course

The Department of Geography and International Development at the University of Chester is offering a new Masters programme in Flood Risk Assessment, Modelling and Engineering (FRAME) that addresses challenges and skills gaps in the area of flood risk management and engineering.

The Masters programme is designed to enable participants to stay in employment while pursuing postgraduate study through an innovative delivery model that involves a combination of classroom-based activities, fieldwork (virtual, local and international), online delivery and engagement with flood practitioners.

The programme utilises the latest innovative technologies, including Augmented and Virtual reality, drone mapping and virtual fieldwork. Key modules focus on flood modelling and GIS, urban drainage design and engineering, natural flood management and sustainable drainage systems, resilience and adaptation, and risk communication.

Our Masters ‘taster day’ CPD event held in March 2019 was highly praised by participants from the Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales, consultancies, local councils and recent graduates.

“This was an excellent and informative CPD event. I learnt a great deal and will use this to develop my knowledge further. Very enthusiastic and approachable lecturers”

“Really good day, good talks from a variety of practitioners”
