Greenpeace – Unearthed life support videos – two links below – these are succinct and to the point (4.5mins each) and convey key ideas on how living marine systems provide us with life support.

Greenpeace: We started our Life Support series with a stark message from one of the world’s leading scientists: the destruction of biodiversity is as serious a threat to us as climate change. But of course, these two crises are very much linked. In the final episode of the series, we talk to a scientist from the British Antarctic Survey about how the creatures in the ocean help to regulate the climate.  It’s actually got a lot to do with poo. You can watch episode four here.

The role of coastal coral reefs and mangroves It’s now predicted that a temperature rise of 2C by the end of the century could mean virtually all tropical coral reefs will be severely degraded within 30 years. Anybody who has seen coral reefs – on film or in real life – will know that would be a tragic loss of one of the world’s most striking ecosystems. But for some people who live on the coasts, coral reefs can also be the difference between life and death. In the third episode of our Life Support series, we speak to a scientist who did astonishing work after the 2004 tsunami. You can watch it here now.
