Job Description

The post holder will report to the Principal Officer, Economic Development and work as part of a team to develop and promote opportunities within the Fisheries sector in Moray. Provide animation and encourage project applications from the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) programme 2014-2020.

Provide support for the Highland & Moray Fisheries Local Action Group (FLAG) to deliver the Community-Led Local Development (CLLD) programme under the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) 2014-2020.


  • To provide animation and encourage projects applications and be the first point of contact for the EMFF programme in Moray
  • To provide support for the Highland & Moray Fisheries Local Action Group (FLAG)
  • To develop and maintain key information and quality systems
  • To liaise with Partners and other relevant Departments and organisations
  • Contribute to the formulation and implementation of and complying with the objectives, policies and procedures of the Economic Development section

The Individual

  • Knowledge and experience of operating in Economic Development
  • Experience of working with public, community and businesses
  • Knowledge and understanding of project match-funding requirements
  • Project development skills
  • Competent knowledge of Microsoft packages Word and Excel
  • Educated to Degree level or have exceptional work experience
  • Good communication skills both written and oral
  • Ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure
  • Confidence and ability to work with a minimum of supervision
  • Effective time management skills
  • Team worker
  • Knowledge and/or understanding of the fisheries sector
  • You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the Service. Due to the rural nature of Moray this is normally undertaken by use of a car/van
  • Be able to communicate with people from all walks of life
  • Where appropriate be able to respect confidentiality of information entrusted
  • Open plan office/mobile working including occasional evening / weekend work
