Cunningham commits to tackling “serious issues” of biodiversity loss and climate change

Scottish Cabinet Secretary, Roseanna Cunningham, visited us this week at Scotland’s first MPA visitor centre, the Octopus Centre. COAST was pleased to see her interact with the new exhibitions and display her knowledge! But we were even more pleased to hear her commit to taking action on biodiversity and climate change. “Life is about timing” said Carl Lewis. Politics is too. Through the Priority Marine Features review, Cunningham has a once-in-a-generation opportunity to right the wrong done to Scottish coastal communities, their ecosystem and fisheries. If our government really wants to protect our extraordinary sea life, safeguard Scotland’s blue carbon stocks, recover the diverse and healthy fisheries we used to have and promote low impact sustainable fishing, here is how to do it.
