Environmental Consultant – Marine

Location: Newcastle
Contract: 18 month

The Planning & Environment department within Natural Power is made up of a diverse range of ecologists, hydrologists and planners with considerable technical experience and expertise from having worked on renewable projects for over twelve years. We are looking to recruit an experienced Environmental Consultant – Marine Ecology into our office in Newcastle.

If you are qualified to BSc level or equivalent in a marine biology/oceanography/marine technology discipline, have previous experience of planning offshore ecology work and undertaking or leading marine ecology surveys at sea and possess a full driving licence we would love to hear from you.

It would be advantageous if you could also demonstrate any of the following experience:

  • Degree qualified to MSc, PhD level or equivalent in marine biology/oceanography/marine technology discipline.
  • Contracting and managing vessels survey and / or survey HSSE requirements;
  • Designing offshore survey and ecology campaigns;
  • Commercial fisheries experience;
  • Statistical analysis on marine ecology data sets;
  • Project/Financial management skills;
  • Knowledge of UK and European legislation in relation to protected habitats and species;
  • Client management and business development skills;
  • Sea survival and medical offshore certificates.
  • GIS experience
  • Experience acting as offshore client representative

Environmental Consultant – Marine Ecology

Location: Newcastle
Contract: 12 month Maternity Cover – Part Time

The Planning & Environment department within Natural Power is made up of a diverse range of ecologists, hydrologists and planners with considerable technical experience and expertise from having worked on renewable projects for over twelve years. We are looking to recruit an experienced Environmental Consultant – Marine Ecology into our office in Newcastle on a part time basis for a fixed term of 12 months.

It would be advantageous if you could also demonstrate any of the following experience:

  • Degree qualified to BSc level or equivalent in a marine biology/oceanography discipline.
  • Understanding of the issues surrounding ecology for offshore projects;
  • Exceptional communication skills being able to convey clear and concise information in both written and verbal format to colleagues, clients and third parties.
  • Capable of producing technical reports and as a result, you will be a proficient user of Microsoft Office.
  • Due to the nature of the role, you will be expected to be self-motivated, flexible with your time and standard duties.
  • Statistical analysis on marine ecology data sets;
  • Project/Financial management skills;
  • A full drivers’ licence is essential
