Science Policy Officer
The Scottish Fishermen’s Federation, an umbrella organisation of eight associations from around the Scottish coasts and Northern Isles, is the national trade body for the catching sector of the fishing industry. SFF plays an active role in advancing the interests of Scottish fishermen at national and international levels by lobbying government officials in Edinburgh, London and Brussels.
We are seeking a full time Science Policy Officer. Marine science runs as an enabling thread through most areas of concern to Federation members. A robust in-house scientific capability is required.
Candidates will possess a suitable academic qualification in Marine Biology or a closely related subject. Analytical, numeric and IT skills are essential, as is a full UK driving license. Knowledge of stock assessment modelling used in international fish stock management and related data analysis methods is a requirement. Experience of the Scottish fishing industry would be an obvious advantage.
