It is now time to submit nominations for the prestigious 2018 Ocean Awards. Now in their third year, the Ocean Awards – a joint initiative between Boat International and the Blue Marine Foundation – are fast becoming recognised as among the most prestigious awards to be given in recognition of outstanding work in the field of ocean protection. This is reflected by the panel of judges for this year’s awards which includes Princess Zahra Aga Khan, Romain Troublé (Managing Director of the Tara Expeditions Foundation), Professors Alex Rogers and Callum Roberts and chef and Fish Fight supremo, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall.

This year awards will be given in five different categories – local hero, science, innovation, visionary and public awareness – acknowledging that many different kinds of approaches are needed to save our seas and ensuring a broad spectrum of nominees.

Last year Professor Daniel Pauly and Dr Dirk Zeller were among the winners for their monumental study of the world’s fish catches.  Who do you think are the people and what are the projects that have made an equivalent impact this past year? Please submit your nominations here.
